Agriculture is a cornerstone of Adams County’s economy, heritage and future. Keeping our farms and orchards competitive requires more than hard work in the fields. It also means embracing new technology that can improve efficiency, increase production and strengthen the future of Pennsylvania agriculture.
I am pleased several Adams County agricultural businesses and organizations received funding through the Agricultural Innovation Grant Program. The investments will help local operations adopt innovative technologies, protect our soil and water resources, and support the next generation of agriculture.
Among the recipients are Piney Apple Acres ($102,381) for precision harvest technology; Mt. Ridge Farms ($65,800) for a vacuum-assisted automated harvest system; and Rice Fruit Company ($33,160) for an AI-powered smart radio system with real-time translation capabilities for its multilingual workforce.
Other local recipients include Adams County Nursery ($33,800), Fruit Hollow Farms ($12,493), Fairview Dairy Farms ($36,048) and Pennsylvania State University ($14,600), which will evaluate precision spray technology for tree fruit orchards.
Together, these grants represent $298,282 in investments in Adams County agriculture. They will help our agricultural businesses work smarter, operate more efficiently and remain competitive.
Supporting innovation today means protecting the agricultural heritage and economic strength of Adams County for years to come.
